Welcome to Panaji Shigmotsav 2026! Join us as we celebrate the vibrant colors, rhythmic beats, and rich cultural heritage of Goa at the 36th Anniversary of the Panaji Shigmotsav!

Entering its 37th year, the Panaji Shigmotsav Samiti is a voluntary, non-profit organization formed in 1989 to spearhead the cultural renaissance of Goa. Originally established under the visionary leadership of Late Shri Vasudevarao V. Dempo, the Samiti successfully revived Goa's traditional folk culture and was instrumental in getting Shigmo declared a State Festival in 1994. Today, under the presidency of Shri Shrinivas V. Dempo, the Samiti continues to nurture fading traditions like Romta Mel, Fugdi, Goff, and Ghodemodni while promoting communal harmony.

Shigmo is Goa's grand festival of color, corresponding to Holi in the rest of India. Celebrated in the Hindu month of Falguna, it marks the joyous transition from winter to summer. During this time, the entire state reverberates to the traditional beats of Dhols (drums) and Tashas (cymbals) as people celebrate the vibrant folklore and farming traditions of our land.
